In honor of the International Year of the Child and the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, the Mayor of the City of Cincinnati issued the following proclamation on November 17, 2014

BE IT PROCLAIMED:

Whereas, the City of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Public Schools wish to commemorate the International Year of the Child and the Declaration of the Rights of the Child; and

Whereas, Cincinnati Public Schools has, through its Community Learning Center education model, and along with its partners, worked to mitigate the impact of poverty on education; and

Whereas, the Community Learning Center model promotes the engagement of the entire community, through the leadership of the community partners, to commit to reclaiming the promise of public education; and

Whereas, Cincinnati Public Schools is recognized nationally for the success of the Community Learning Center model, has students outperforming their peers across the state, and remains committed to this model which offers the best hope for achieving the goals of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, which include achieving equitable and high quality education for all students;

Now, Therefore, I, John Cranley,
Mayor of the City of Cincinnati do hereby proclaim November 17, 2014
as
“International Year of the Child Anniversary Day”
in Cincinnati.
