Turnaround 2.0: Tapping the Potential of the PreK-3rd Grades to Improve Schools
For years, policymakers have sought to turnaround the trajectory of low-performing schools. But most turnaround models focus on intervention rather than prevention, and many fail to address problems that emerge in the earliest grades. Ensuring that children have the right start in the PreK-3rd grade years is critical to seeding a culture of learning and fostering academic success beyond the primary years.
New America’s Early Education Initiative invites you to learn about promising strategies for turning around elementary schools. Join us to hear from experts and educators about how they are thinking about scaling-up and replicating their initiatives designed to transform elementary schools. We’ll explore how the U.S. Department of Education’s School Improvement Grant (SIG) program could be changed to incorporate these new ideas, and what incentives could help school districts get started.
