The Oyler OneSight Vision Center at Oyler Community learning Center received the Health Care Heroes Award at a ceremony on February 26, 2013. OneSight Vision Center is the first self-sustaining school-based vision center in the United States. In Ohio, it is estimated that only one in seven kindergartners has an eye exam prior to entering school. The public-private partnership serves 2,000 students annually who did not previously have access to vision care services. Operated by the Cincinnati Health Department, the center provides access to comprehensive vision care, including eye exams, glasses, fittings and adjustments, medical eye care and vision therapy.
