The Community Learning Center Institute was honored at the 100th Annual Meeting of the Ohio Federation on February 25th, 2016 with its Friend of Public Education Award. OFT President Melissa Cropper presented the award to Darlene Kamine, Executive Director of CLCI, and Annie Bogenschutz, Director of Training and Development at a ceremony in Columbus. In her remarks, President Cropper said, “We are recognizing the work you have done creating community learning centers in Cincinnati and spreading the model both in Ohio and across the nation. Clearly, you have been a spokesperson for reclaiming and promoting the values of public education.”
State Representative Denise Driehaus, a member of the Community Learning Center Institute Board of Directors, also received the Friend of Education Award for her leadership in the passage of HB 40 that promotes community learning centers as a model for the State.
