Partnership for the Future of Learning / October 2019.
From collective leadership to community engagement, Cincinnati has been making strides in public education.
Community schools are the kind of public schools that families want and children need: coordinated, inclusive, comprehensive, adaptive, responsive, and above all else, equitable. Cincinnati’s Community Schools are called “Community Learning Centers” and this new four-film series from MediaSutra and the Partnership for the Future of Learning takes a deep dive into how these schools are working!
Community schools are changing the landscape of public education in the U.S. The Partnership for the Future of Learning is releasing a new series of four films showing how this has happened in Cincinnati since 2001, when Cincinnati passed a school board policy to turn all of their schools into community schools, called Community Learning Centers.
The films tell the stories of people who have been a part of the Community Learning Centers in Cincinnati. The stories come from Darlene Kamine, Director of the Community Learning Center Institute giving us a sense of the history of important changes in Cincinnati; a number of community partners; and Kimberly Washburn, a young parent who received wrap-around care and support at the school where she now works.
