TJ Smith, CLCI’s Resource Coordinator at the Mt. Airy Community Learning Center, was honored on January 16, 2020 at the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative’s Mentor Appreciation Celebration with the CYC Ambassador Award.
As the resource coordinator at Mt. Airy, TJ has served for 8 years as the leader of an expansive hub of partnerships which support the students, families and Mt. Airy neighborhood. She has also developed a special girls’ group to provide extraordinary enrichment and mentorship in an after school ASPIRE club.
TJ meets weekly and year round with the 28 ASPIRE girls, engaging them in a wide range of learning from fashion design to space exploration. The annual week-long summer trip that TJ designs and leads has taken the girls to Washington DC to Chicago with itineraries that include visits to the best-of in the cities.
As a further extension of her role as the Mt. Airy Resource Coordinator and her commitment to the community, TJ served as the President of the Mt. Airy Community Council and is presently on the board of the Community Redevelopment Corporation.
