Students from the Community Learning Center Institute’s partner schools performed at the 4th Annual CPS International Jazz Festival for the Arts at the Aronoff Center in Cincinnati on March 9. More than 120 students in grades 4-12 from 24 schools were selected to be part of the CPS Jazz Band, including 20 CLCI students.

The special guest artist for the festival was Japanese jazz violin superstar, Tomoko Omura. Ms. Omura conducted masterclasses with students in the afternoon and perform with the students at the evening concert.

The International Jazz Festival founder and director is Dr. Isidore Rudnick. Dr. Rudnick is a nationally respected arts administrator, music educator, jazz trombonist, conductor, arranger and composer. Dr. Rudnick is currently the Cincinnati Public Schools Fine & Performing Arts Manager and Director of the Cincinnati Jazz Academy.
