The founder and first Executive Director of the Community Learning Center, Darlene Kamine, retired on January 1, 2025 after more than 25 years as one of the pioneering national leaders of community learning centers. Annie Bogenschutz was named the new Executive Director and Kamine will stay on as a consultant for special projects.

Bogenschutz has worked with Kamine for more than 23 years in the development of the community learning center model in Cincinnati Public Schools. Bogenschutz was the first resource coordinator in the district and went on to serve as a resource coordinator for Ethel Taylor Academy which won the first Coalition for Community Schools Award for Excellence in 2011. As part of the pilot group of CLC resource coordinators, Bogenschutz helped to develop the operational model for CPS community learning centers.

Bogenschutz joined the Community Learning Center Institute in 2012 as the Director of Training and Development. In addition to the onboarding and mentorship of CLCI’s resource coordinators, Bogenschutz has been a national trainer for the American Federation of Teachers, National Education Association, U.S. Department of Education, the Coalition for Community Schools, and dozens of school districts and nonprofits throughout the U.S.

In addition to her leadership of CLCI, Bogenschutz is continuing CLCI’s role as a national leader. She is Co-Chair of the Coalition for Community Schools State Coalition Network and a member of the U.S. Department of Education Whole Child Community of Practice.

“Annie was the unanimous choice by our Board to ensure uninterrupted success in the constant pursuit of CLCI’s aim to ensure that every child has the kind of education and quality of life that each of us would want for our own children,” Kamine said.
