Community schools are quickly becoming embedded in the U.S. Department of Education’s school reform strategy as an innovative and efficient method for turning around schools. A new publication entitled the Handbook for Family and Community Engagement (aka. FACE Handbook), funded by the Department, dedicates an entire chapter, Engaging the Entire Community: The Community Schools’ Way (page 45), to community learning centers including the Cincinnati community learning centers and Oyler School.
