WKRC-TV / November 29, 2011 Oyler Community Learning Center hosted a delegation from the New York City United Federation of Teachers as part of a three day study visit led by the Community Learning Center Institute. One of the highlights of the tour which was featured in the news story was a visit to the Oyler school based health center. When asked by the reporter what the UFT saw in the Cincinnati community learning centers that they want to replicate in New York, Vice President of the UFT Karen Alford said enthusiastically, ” Everything! Everything you’re doing! You can’t ignore the other pieces outside the academics. If you treat the whole child you will have children who are successful. Cincinnati has figured that out and they have figured out how to do it well.”
